There are free community based services to assist your clients/patients in giving up smoking.  National ones are:

Quitline

The Quit Group offer a free telephone support line, and also provide subsidised NRT through Quit Cards which clients can take to their local pharmacy.  They have a website where you can find out more about the other services they offer, like Māori and Pacific advisors, Text2Quit, their online message board services well as lots of useful fact sheets that would help you provide support to your clients

Te Hotu Manawa Māori

This organisation provides training support and advice to Aukati KaiPaipa which is a community based programme offering support for Māori and whanau.  They also offer a Pasifika service.  Aukati KaiPaipa Quit Coaches offer weekly appointments of face-to-face counselling for 8 weeks, and provide all NRT free.  Regular follow-up over 12 months will help support clients to stay quit.

Smokefree Coalition

The Smokefree Coalition publishes an annual directory of organisations involved in Tobacco Control (encompassing cessation). Sections within this may help you to source other contacts.

 

Quit Smoking

The Cancer Society has developed a website which brings together all of the ways that a smoker can be helped to quit.  This is a useful reference site for you and your clients.
