FREE SMOKING CESSATION SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
Smokefree Nurses is pleased to be hosting a series of workshops and seminars which will bring together an overseas speaker, Jennifer Percival, with Dr. Hayden McRobbie and Dr. Mark Wallace-Bell. The sessions aim to equip busy health professionals with fast effective smoking cessation skills which fit with everyday practice. These skills enhance ABC smoking cessation interventions.
Jennifer is an RN, RM, health visitor, internationally renowned smoking cessation trainer and tobacco control advisor to the Royal College of Nursing. Hayden is a primary architect of the NZ Smoking Cessation Guidelines and Mark specialises in Motivational Interviewing.

Each of these events counts towards professional development hours for RNs and one elective educational point for RMs
Seminars: Learn how to initiate and revitalize quit smoking conversations with:
- new patients
- patients who have relapsed
- patients who are not interested in quitting
Workshops: Learn fast, effective ways to support patients who smoke throughout their smokefree journey
STEPS is a train-the-trainer programme for those who have completed their preliminary ABC training and want to provide further training to their colleagues to support their delivery of smoking cessation interventions. Read more here.
